75th Anniversary of Coventry Blitz, as seen by George Rodger Archive

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz; this means that 75 years ago Magnum co-founder George Rodger was one of the first photojournalists to witness and report the devastation.

I was with Jinx Rodger a couple of years ago uncovering her late husband’s photographic archive when she first shown me his prints from Coventry. Since Jinx and George Rodger settled in Kent, Jinx became the archivist, numbering stories George photographed for. The story list starts in 1947 after the establishment of Magnum Inc. and so all the stories prior to this date, including the Blitz, are X-numbered.
